Message from the President of the Nurses Alumni Association

“Four Schools — One Tradition” has become a motto of sorts for the Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni Association, but what does it mean? On the surface, it would seem that alumni who graduated from four different schools of nursing, some more than a century ago and others just months ago, have little in common apart from a passion for nursing.

But as an alumna of two of these four schools, I can tell you with certainty that alumni of all four schools were trained with the highest regard for nursing innovation. The slogan “Four Schools — One Tradition” honors a shared commitment to high quality patient care and outcomes; to excellence in nursing education; to national prominence and rankings; to emerging as leaders in the transformation of nursing practice and education; and to the teacher-practitioner model of nursing for which Rush is now world renowned. With thousands of nursing alumni serving as RNs, nurse researchers, professors and more across the globe, we have countless examples that this tradition lives on and inspires continued innovation within nursing.

The alumni association takes great pride in our members and their many contributions to our field. We hope you take the same pride in your nursing education, and we thank you for your interest in reconnecting with the College of Nursing and all the opportunities it has to offer through the Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Online Nurses Alumni Association.
