The Golden Lamp Society is the premier giving society dedicated to Rush University College of Nursing. Its members are committed to supporting educational and research opportunities for Rush nursing students and, in so doing, supporting the mission and vision of the college. The society holds an annual meeting and luncheon. Membership in the Golden Lamp Society is made up of those individuals who make annual gifts of $300 or more for use in the college.
When the founders of the Golden Lamp Society were searching for a special name to give to the loyal group of donors who shared their commitment and passion for patient-centered nursing education, they immediately thought of Florence Nightingale, a pioneer or modern nursing, education and philanthropy. It was Florence’s tireless dedication to her patients that earned her the title “The Lady with the Lamp.”
The Golden Lamp Society supports undergraduate scholarship and educational needs as well as News & Views, the alumni newsletter of the College of Nursing and the Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Nurses Alumni Association. The Golden Lamp Society also provides funding for scholarships given annually to nursing doctoral students at the dissertation phase of their studies.

In recent years, the society has supported the purchase of new equipment for the Nursing Therapeutic Laboratory in an effort to maintain and enhance one of the many important resources available to our students.
